HECS/HELP Repayments
If you have a HELP debt, your employer will withhold extra. From FY 2025-26 the new marginal repayment system applies — you pay only on income above $67,000, not your whole salary.
| Annual Income (FY 2025-26) | HELP Repayment |
|---|---|
| Below $67,000 | $0 (no compulsory repayment) |
| $67,000 - $125,000 | 15c on each $1 above $67,000 |
| Above $125,000 | $8,700 + 17c on each $1 above $125,000 |
Plus: a one-off 20% reduction was applied to existing HELP debt balances on 1 June 2025.
