Age Pension Eligibility

To qualify for the Age Pension in Australia, you must meet these requirements:

  • Age: 67 years or older
  • Residency: Australian resident for at least 10 years, with 5 consecutive years
  • Income Test: Below the income test thresholds
  • Assets Test: Below the assets test thresholds

Pension reduces by 50c for every $1 over this amount

Pension reduces by 50c for every $1 over this amount

Work Bonus

Pensioners can earn up to $300 per fortnight from employment without it counting towards the income test. This is in addition to the income free area.

Unused amounts accumulate in a Work Bonus balance (up to $11,800) that can offset future work income.
